Second Harpenden Scout's hut received some much-needed TLC on Saturday May 2 when a squad of six parents came together for two hours to hammer, drill, dig and mend. At blistering speed they tore down the old dilapidated fence. Unfazed by the discovery that the wrong-size netting had been delivered, the volunteers switched to digging and smoothing over the trailer pitch while Phil sped off to Wickes to get the correct fence. Working feverishly the group got the new fence up and erected in what was probably record time. "More hands definitely made light work on this occasion," Phil said.
That pint afterwards was well earned - volunteering is at the heart of the Scout Association and kudos to the parents who gave up some of their Saturday to love the hut!
